Marvel Comics 9/1963
Amazing Spider-Man #4, published in September of 1963, featured the first appearance of the Sandman, one of the most powerful villains introduced early in this classic run. The character opposed Spider-Man in countless storylines over the decades and also plagued the Fantastic Four as a member of the Frightful Four. The villain got the big-screen treatment in the 3rd installment of the enormously successful Spider-Man film franchise.
