Amazing Spider-Man #25 is a significant 1965 issue, featuring the 1st appearance of Mary Jane Watson. Mary Jane would become Peter Parker’s girlfriend and future wife and plays a role in many story-lines to follow in comic books and in film. MJ’s introduction was built up over many prior issues, and those who remember reading the series may fondly recall Aunt May’s constant attempts to fix Peter up with her friend’s granddaughter. In addition to keeping up his grades, taking snapshots to earn money at the Daily Bugle, and crime-fighting as Spider-Man, Peter was busy juggling the affections of Betty Brant and Liz Allen, and it was no wonder he made up excuse after excuse to avoid a potential blind date with Mary Jane. Only much later, in the big reveal page at the end of issue #42, would Peter find out that he hit the jackpot with Mary Jane Watson! Also significant about this issue, is it contains the first appearance of Spencer Smythe and J. Jonah Jameson’s Spider-Slayer armor.
